English Cockers
Bailynn had its beginnings in 2003 when my mom and I bought our first English Cocker Spaniel from Cindy Pinard of Murkrist Kennels. We fell in love with the breed and had the desire to learn more. Seven months later we entered Bailey in her first dog show and developed the show "bug". From that moment, we knew we wanted to become more educated about the breed in hopes that one day we could produce our own English Cockers. Through reading and talking with other respected breeders we decided to pursue this dream.
At Bailynn English Cockers, we strive to breed English Cocker Spaniels that are healthy, good tempered and conform to the Canadian Kennel Club breed standards. We breed primarily for ourselves. This means we keep the puppy that best represents the English Cocker breed standard in hopes that one day we will produce that "show stopper". All of our breedings are planned with a careful study of the pedigrees. We recognize the faults in our own English Cockers and strive to improve on them by matching mating possibilities which will most likely produce our next effort in the ring. Therefore, we only have puppies occasionally. Our main goal is to continue to improve on this breed that we love and at the same time preserve it.
English Cockers belong to the sporting group. They are a hardy, energetic, merry and affectionate dog. This breed is excellent with children and other household pets. They depend highly on human interaction and do not do well in situations where they are left alone for extended periods of time. English Cockers should be trained gently, but firmly, as they are sensitive but also independent and intelligent. They are an average shedder and require regular brushing. English Cocker dogs weigh between 28-34 pounds with a height of 16 to 17 inches. Female English Cockers weigh between 26-32 pounds and grow 15 to 16 inches.
